The idea of creating this, Tree Identification documentary came to me over a
period of time. I had been photographing different trees for some time and have
always had an interest in their habitat and how they change throughout the
seasons.
Having been a carpenter for some years I knew a fair bit about different
woods, so I added a section on the DVD covering timber uses. I am also fond
follower of spiritual and esoteric practices, having been a fully qualified
Reiki Teacher for many years. I have both attended and given talks on Dowsing
and Healing and various materials that can be used for rods and wands etc, so as
you would expect I have included a section on folklore on the Tree
Identification DVD.
Tree Identification took over 18 months to film in total. It shows you how to
make an identification of a tree in Spring, Summer Autumn and Winter by giving
both a visual and descriptive dialogue in easy to follow sequential sections.
This way of advanced learning styles has been shown to be the most effective way
of taking on and learning new information.
There is already quite a bit of information scattered across the Internet
about, Tree Identification, but not all of it is available in one place. This is
where you will find British Woodland, Tree Identification, to be possibly a
first of its kind. It has a documentary style layout, categorised by the tree
genus and the seasons. Covering aspects of the tree such as the bark, buds,
leaves and flowers etc. It also brings all the relevant information to you in
one place for you to watch and learn.
I really have enjoyed making, Tree Identification and have learnt loads about
filming techniques, trees, sound recording and compiling a useable and watchable
DVD. I have included subtitles translated into 12 different languages which
are:
English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish,
Portuguese, Swedish and Russian.
I have not held back in any way with the production to get this DVD
finalised. It had to be just right and is presented to you on a glass mastered
DVD, making it highly compatible across the range of DVD players.
You may ask what is the importance of, Tree Identification? As I state on the
DVD, trees give us so much more, they are our guardians and companions
throughout our lives giving us clean air, fuel, food and shelter. Although they
don't move they are living entities that share the same space as we do and will
help to relieve stress in ways that at first aren't apparent. Just sitting under
a tree will help to dissolve the stress in your life, that's what they do.
Transforming bad energy into good.

Love the video "Tree Identification" Fabulous idea for a series. I love it.
Much better than doing it from a book. Good for you. And your video footage is
wonderful. Love the little facts along with your info. You are natural at doing
this type of video. Love the English accent, so refined and resonant. :)

Tim, you clearly have a great deal of knowledge on the subject and is
explained in a clear and concise manner. Considering the production is low
budget both the layout, sound and video is excellent at all times. My best to
your future plans.

I bought this DVD not knowing what to expect. My first thought was low
budget, low quality. My initial thoughts were wrong. I have been pleasantly
surprised not only by the quality of the sound and filming, but also by the
content. Tim White has produced a watchable and informative DVD, delivered in a
down to earth, straight forward, easy going style. This guy doesn't preach or
sound like a professor but then he doesn't dumb it down either. A lot of hard
work has gone into the making of this DVD and it shows. It's a very impressive
start to what promises to be a very inspiring series. Stacey T, Aug' 2011

British Woodland Tree Identification (Volume 1) is the brainchild of Tim
White, a man who includes healing, carpentry, dowsing, woodcraft and bushcraft
in his CV. The DVD is filmed mainly in Cornwall, and anyone who loves that part
of the world will enjoy the occasional background shots of abandoned 19th
century mine works set along steep, wooded cliffs.
The main purpose of the British Woodland Tree Identification series is to
help viewers identify trees for themselves. Tim describes a variety of
identification methods, so that whatever time of year you meet a tree you can at
least make an educated guess as to what exactly it is.
This first volume covers six trees – although in fact it covers more. Red
chestnut is mentioned in the section on horse chestnut (a.k.a. Dr Bach's White
Chestnut), for example, and there are three main types of oak mentioned. Of the
remedy trees, then, those responsible for White Chestnut, Chestnut Bud, Red
Chestnut, Sweet Chestnut, Oak and Beech are all identified. If you are thinking
of making one of these remedies next year this might be a good place to
start.
As well as presenting the DVD, Tim has also written, produced and directed
it; members of his family have helped with the camera-work. So this is very much
a hand-made, homespun effort: but don't let that fool you. The sound quality is
good, as is the filming, and the fact that Tim isn't a professional presenter
actually helps. Because what comes through above all is that this is a man who
knows, respects and loves trees. And he communicates that knowledge, respect and
love in a totally natural, unassuming and easy-going manner.
“Just sitting under a tree will help to dissolve the stress in your life,”
says Tim on his web site. “That's what they do.” Dr Bach would certainly have
approved, and so do we. Stefan Ball, The Bach Centre, http://www.bachcentre.com/

I just got your Tree Identification DVD today and really enjoyed watching it.
The good quality of the video was greatly appreciated. I also enjoyed the
relaxing background music, and the clear slow commentary, which was easy to
follow and which gave me time to take notes.
Please keep me informed as to when your next video will be coming out. I
shall certainly be buying it.
Wishing you every success with your new venture.
